when i have to think twice before i write anything down
to express all the frustrations out

therefore this blog will be on indefinite hiatus till further notice

when an anime you watch gets you thinking about your own life
and when you feel you can relate to the characters
you know its good
highly recommend watching the show angel beats

the characters all suffered horrible fates when they were alive
they are then transplanted to a world where they live as spirits once again
given the chance to fufill their dreams, what they wanted to do
but doing so means you erase your existence entirely
so whats the choice, to fufill or not to fufill your dreams

Winter break in hot and humid singapore

as i type this almost 2 weeks of the break would have gone by

that leaves just 3 more weeks plus before school starts

3 precious weeks of brain lazing and slack free days before its back to hitting the books

it was just 2 and half weeks ago that i finished my last paper
finished my last paper on the 18th of june

came back to sg on the 21st of june

in between had a blast of the weekend
celebrating friends birthday, first time going to a karaoke place ( my teenage years were deprived) , eating out at different food places
playing part time taxi driver and just soaking in whatever time i have left in laid back Perth
the rental vehicle had dents and scratches on them so i had to be careful not to add anymore to them if not its extra charges waiting for me when i get back
its larger than the toyota corolla but has stiffer suspension and heavier steering, not to mention the steering wheel partially obstructs the view of the dashboard display, but engine seems to have more power than the corolla

been trying to meet up with friends since getting back
managed to meet up with some of them
for some not yet
as you know the older you get the harder its gets to stay in touch with people
and for me there is this nagging empty feeling just doesn't go away no matter what i do

i think i have to admit it that for the past 2 years or maybe even longer
been feeling jealous that i cant find a gf
but then im also thinking would my life be better if i had one?
can i force myself to be more quick witted, to be able to sweet talk and outwit people
right now i just feel that it doesn't pay to be nice to people anymore
especially if they take it for granted or take advantage
whats the point then
nice guys finish last?

been reading this book i bought dairies of a Singapore taxi driver
the author used to be professor doing research at reputable institutions but got retrenched
and is now driving cabs to make a living
gives you an insight into the life of not just the author but the lives of people from all strata of society bar the elites aka untouchables

deep down all the glitz and glamor of Singapore
there is a storm brewing
and its been building up through the years
especially since y2k

whats going to happen in the future?
i have to think about my own future too
i cant keep putting it off

End of semester is here

and so one more semester draws to a close
just finished exams a few days back
i must say this exams feels more badly done than the past few semesters
and it is the first time my exams on the very last day
its a frustrating when you see people who finish their exams one week earlier than you start partying away

its a mixed feelings every time i head back to singapore

on one hand i can meet up with my family and friends
on the other hand, there's just this feeling of being transplanted out of one world back into another
and leaving the place where you spent time living together with other hallmates
and all the memories both the good and the bad
all the times of fun, laughter, frustration
i think i have become too accustomed to this laid back life style since one year ago

i am supposed to be packing my stuff yet i am lazing around again

alright off to finish packing

oh and this is one day late

wish all fathers a happy fathers day!

that reminds me got to pack the stuff i bought for my dad

time is running out

just a few more days to the exams
caught a cold a few days back
been sneezing and weezing a lot
screws your study momentum
past few days really difficult to keep on studying
luckily things returning to normal

apparently theres been some screwup
the cheque from the insurance company hasnt arrived
i presume its been lost somewhere
called them up and requested for it to be resent

keep my fingers crossed that i will get it sometime next week
been deprived of all the junk food that keeps me going
the vicious cycle of studying plus cold weather
you want to eat more

everyone is feeling the heat
you can cut the tension with a knife at times
i need my comfort food to keep things under control
and my magic formula drink

a lot of things in my head now

at the back of my mind for the past 2 weeks was what car to get to replace the corolla
the insurance payout should be arriving soon this coming week
been searching the web, reading the adverts a few choice in mind
toyota camry, toyota aurion( stretching the budget and have to bargain in order to get one), honda civic, mazda 3/6 , theres a lot of choices but many of them are private sellers
searching from dealers only reduces the choices due to the markup in prices
but the upside is the supposed better quality of cars from dealers

i would like to think that they have inspected the cars before trying to sell them
well theres always that risk of buying a lemon and i hope to reduce that chances
its even possible to get used bmw , wrx, lexus, is, but then... thinking about it, the costs of maintaining these vehicles is higher, not to mention i dont know whether this vehicles have been looked after

need vs want
what is deemed as a want by someone is deemed a need by others

and another problem is my stomach
the past month have been clearing bowels very often sometimes up to 3 times a day
its irritating and annoying
not sure what is causing all this
the food i eat?
is it the meals at the hall? the junk food i eat? the soft drinks?
or something more sinister
i hope not

2 more weeks of normal term time
1 week of swat vacation
then its exams already
5 weeks time and its the end of second year of uni

just like that 4 semesters of uni will be over

the damaged corolla has been towed away to be auctioned off at discounted prices
now awaiting for insurance payout from the insurers
this entire process is taking ages

ive repaired the corolla back to a drivable state and am forced to let go of it
i miss the car as a useful tool
giving you the freedom to go where you want without the contstaints of public transport
which is alright on weekday mornings and afternoons
but once the sun sets and the weekend arrives
public transport becomes .... well lets just say not very efficient
miss the bus? the next one will come in half an hour
after a certain time
its one hour intervals between buses

well maybe its good that im holed up in the hall more often
i need to get some serious work done
been slacking throughout this sem
even though i dont go out that much
i procastinate too much on the web, watching shows, youtubing
and results have suffered from this

need to think through a lot of things once this sem ends
need to re evaluate whether i should continue pursuing finance as one of my majors
having major difficulty coping with the units now, and these units are only the intermediate ones
have yet to the advanced units

need to think whether i can still go for exchange in the final semester next year
i think its too late to change majors now, have to make do with whatever i can get now

the few comforts now are eating good food to boost morale
but even thats a challenge with hall food
and junk food isnt a suitable substitute in the long run

3 weeks after the break

mid sems are over

got back 2 of the results

just passed international finance

corporate financial policy was a disaster

the average mark out of 90 was 60, i failed........
first time failed mid sem
totally dampened the mood

my results are depreciating, every semester they slowly decline

been feeling very moody over the past few days
trying not to show it
but it just surfaces out

sigh
maybe finance isnt my strongest points

but im struggling with micro econs as well

i really hope to pass that unit

turned 23 just 2 weeks back

my wishes are simple
to do reasonable well in my results
to find a girlfriend hopefully
to maintain and sustain friendships
to finally get final fantasy 13 and play it on the ps3 when i get back to singapore

the one week " study" break has passed by so fast
note the inverted commas
supposed to be a break to catch up on work
instead spent a large portion of the break slacking around

Road trip was loads of fun
visited different natural attractions
drove long distances
sightseeing
eating
lazing
countryside life
so different from the city area

revisited busseltown jetty
revisited cape leeuwin lighthouse but this time we went up on the tour
boy the winds are powerful at the top
no joke
it could blow off your sunnies or caps if you never wear them properly
the view was breath taking too

first day was margaret river area in the day time
in the evening we took night journey towards albany
terence took over as driver for the night trip

we travelled along muirs highway towards albany
not a good idea at all especially at night
total darkenss and we saw fewer than 20 cars over the 150 plus km of muirs highway
had close calls with kangaroos

reached albany late on good friday night
saturday was more sightseeing around albany area
dog rock, albany market, albany windmill farms
watching the sunset and the windmills together
make for a picture perfect post card
at night spent the night bbqing loads
and i mean loads of food

sunday was travelling to strawberry farm but i was closed
then headed to blueberry farm that was open
tried their blueberry icecream
delicious
bought some wine to bring back to sg

then it was off to denmark stopping by for lunch
ate at this small cafe but the turkish bread was delicous

preceeded to dinosaur world and the adjacent bird park
haha those birds sure chirp loud
especially those parrots

headed off to wapole
walked the valley of the tree top walks
its quite high up in the air and the bridge sways a little
but the view makes up for it

on monday before heading back to perth
we stopped by the blowholes and the gap near albany
land meets sea
you have to see it to understand what i am saying

anyways the rest of the break passed by so quickly
eating out at gelare for half price waffle
celebrating sue yongs birthday

only around wednesday or thursday then its back to studying

just cleared one mid sem today
international finance
40 mins worth 25% of the marks
sigh

got 3 mid sems next week
thats the killer week
once thats past everything should be a little easier to deal with

April is here

its the first day of april
time for some april fools mucking around

and so tml begins the mid semester break
a little early then usual
but still a welcome break away from normal uni life

good friday and the easter weekend beckons

will be heading for a roadtrip with my set mates tml till monday
to margaret river area and then to albany
will have a more experienced co driver with me
i dont have experience in long distance driving
so i hope everything goes fine

rented a toyota aurion
it feels luxurious
its spacious
its got a stonking 3.5L v6
it should serve us well for the trip
i so want to keep this car as my own
hahahahaha
keep the aurion, send the damaged corolla to the rental company...
and get sued most probably
haha

its twice the engine capacity of the still damaged corolla
more than twice the power
of course that come with more than twice the price for a corolla
the only thing im worried about is anything dents happening to the aurion
the rental company will charge exhorbitant prices should anything happen

the corolla floor beneath the car floor stiching has been flooded with water
constant efforts to suck out the water have provided ineffective
have to remove the entire carpeting to get it out

hopefully on tuesday the corolla gets restored to its previous condition
and theres still the hundreds of golf ball dents on the panels that need fixing
WHat a pain

and theres the problem of claiming the insurance as i am not the stated driver under the insurance policy

next week after getting back need to get down to some serious studying

4 mid sem exams await after the study break

how ironic is the name
a break but youre supposed to study ...

oh gelare waffles taste absolutely fantastic
had them on tuesday evening with friends in the city
come to think of it
i dont think i even eat gelare back in singapore

just a couple of days ago

HAIL storm fell over Perth metro area

first time ever witnessing such an event

it hailed like no tomorrow

the irony was at 2 pm the sun was still pretty bright but by 4 pm
all hell had broken lose

many buildings had suffered substantial damage
the hall was badly damaged as well

vehicles were hit badly too
poor toyota is covered with golf ball dents all over
rear windscreen was smashed
front windsreen was cracked
side mirrors cracked
speakers damaged
glass everywhere

some pple were hurt too by the falling hail
totally did not expect this freak weather

have been searching for avenues to repair the vehicle over the past few days
managed to get both windscreens replaced
cost 800 dollars

now searching for places to replace side mirrors other than the official dealer
got a quote for 555 dollars for replacing side mirrors, covers plus labour cost
worst thing is parts have to be flown in from Eastern Australia which means more waiting time

SO MUCH TROUBLE CAUSED BY THIS HAIL STORM

Car parts can be replaced
human lives cant
so im glad people i know didnt get hurt
thats what matters the most

its been about 2 and half weeks since i got back to aus
now in the 3rd week of school
pace of work is slowly picking up

week 1
nothing much done
first dinner out of hall on sunday night
ate at city at tookegi korean cafe with delicious food

spent the first week searching for course readers and textbooks
on one of the nights headed out to freemantle with set mates for dinner
glorious fish and chips for me while they had their fill of fresh seafood
on the way back got a little lost...
luckily managed to find way back

one thing i still dont like is that the streets down under are poorly lit
makes driving at night more tiring
have to really concentrate

second week settling down into slow pace of life once again
finalised all my units to study
back to playing card games to pass time
modified monopoly
once again picking up texas hold em up

on the second sunday
had a superbly delicious breakfast with setmates at witches cauldron in Subiaco
pancakes yum yum
after that at subi market to get some fruits
after that it was a wild drive to different malls only to find out that they were all closed
since it was a sunday and monday was a public holiday
in the end settled for light dim sum at northbridge

more nights of playing monopoly cardgames

went to get equipment for crabbing
was supposed to head out to mandurah to try and catch crabs
but that got postphoned

just sent the car for servicing
ouch the bill hurts
high labour costs here

amandas convocation is coming soon
bruce's convo is coming too
season for last sems graduates to get their hard earned degrees

time is passing faster
its already one and half years since i first came to perth....
time to make the most of it

chinese new year and st valentines day

Chinese new year is here
year of the tiger beckons

which means just one more year to the year of the rabbit
that means turning 24 in 2011 and nearing the end of uni

and yet at this point in time i still do not know what i want to do yet
some things have popped into my mind
but the drawbacks that such jobs require shift work and you do not have fixed day offs
im talking about government agencies
and NO it isnt The beloved SAF

considering options like ICA and police force but not as a uniformed officer
more like those that investigate corporate crime
commercial affairs department
but then again nothing solid

yet my poor eyesight and sedentary lifestyle may pose obstacles

ideally something related to finance/econs/business if not im willing to explore other options

cny was spent overseas for the first time that i can remember
last friday flew off to hong kong
had dinner with my grandmother and my uncles from my mother sides
the weather in hong kong is perfect for walking around 14 degrees whole day feels like total air conditioning

sat went to do some shopping at ladies market
got a sling bag to replace my old ageing bag
got a another led torch
after that off to my cousins house
while my mum and relatives helped themselves to mahjong
i was messing with my cousins ps3
played some golf game that was in japanese
luckily can still read basic jap
then tried call of duty 4

i must say cod4 really is an awesome game
it deserves all the praise it has received from the gaming community

in the night headed off for reunion dinner with relatives from my fathers side
had a rather too full dinner
nice food
but not good for waistline

cny day 1 went visiting then in the evening headed over to macu
spent the next 2 days in macau eating too much
and playing slot machines at the casinos
the next few days will be detoxicing days less heavy meals

oh i managed to try out hong kongs bubble tea before heading over to macau
12 hk dollars snags you a large cup of taiwanese style bubble tea ahhhhhhhhhh

i cant belive i think about bubbletea even though im in another country
they should award me with loyalty points system, wait that sort of exists back in aussie already

off to bed to recharge woke up at 5 am this morning
had to rush from macau back to hong kong to catch 9 am flight
really tight 530 leave casino
6am leave macu
7 am reach hong kong
740 reach airport for check in

theres bound to be a time when that threshold is crossed

the question is when

is there a way to release all that frustration slowly in a controlled manner

excercise only postpones this

you just feel tired

lately ive been having dreams that i cant make sense of
when i wake up i dont feel refreshed
i still feel tired for the rest of the day

im still holding back from releasing all the venom

summary of this week

monday night met uni friend for dinner at astons
very long queue for a monday night
food was alright considering the price
and being the day of o level results being released could see many teens around in school uniform
made me think back to the day i got back my own results
and the subsequent choices of staying in cjc that would lead me to discover the meaning of bitterness and absolutely shattered my self denial that people could be so manipulative
but that night heading back home could feel something was wrong with my throat

tuesday woke up with an inflamed throat
decided to see the doc
and sure enough he diagnosed it as very early symptoms of bronchitis

spent the rest of the day resting up
felt tired after taking all the medicine

friday night met up with joel for some dinner
decided to eat and glass house fish and cole
havent stepped into there since 2005
the place looks a little run down
but nevertheless the food was good a little more pricy
compared to manhattan fish market in plaza sing

after that played some pool
i find it annoying when playing that you cant hit shots consistently
some times youre on target
other times you keep missing or fouling up
mirrors real life i suppose
sometimes everything is smooth sailing
other times you keep missing fouling up what you want to get

saturday night
met up with ns buddy yf for dinner
had mad jack at pomo
the foods pretty good
but the drink was rip off
sure i like fresh juice but the price isnt justfied
after that went to play lan
first time playing left 4 dead 2
i must say its pretty interesting to play
the concept of teamwork is really re enforced in this game
thanks to yf for showing me the ropes

now this song is so catchy that i keep playing it over and over again
i think it talks about love and relationships
seems like a lot of songs revolve around the elusive feeling called love

feel totally apathetic now
totally sleepless night last night
i can confirm now that im hyper sensitive to anything that has caffine
especially at night
cant drink ice lemon tea, coke all that after 10pm otherwise cant sleep till 5 am in the morning

the last time i was totally unable to sleep was
the day before one of my exam papers
that feeling totally sucks
when you know you need to rest your mind before the exam
and yet youre tossing around bed from 1 am till 5am when the sky becomes bright
and when youre awake and try to revise cant get much in because youre in a zombiefied state

this morning finally Knocked out from about 8am to 1045 am
then had tennis session from 11am for an hour
its been a while since i last played
my racket grip needs to be changed
my shoes soles have totally given way
my right arm aching now

but still managed to vent some frustration off

afternoon just napped

watched hellsing ultimate ova part 7
totally epic
the entire hellsing ultimate ova follows the manga faithfully
doesnt deviate unlike the standard anime
never seen this much blood and gore on anime before
not that im into mindless violence
but despite this being a vampire flick anime
the blood count was still an overkill
definitely would be censored if it was aired on local tv

still waiting for full metal alchemist latest episode if they even aired it

waiting for final fantasy 13 should be coming out in march but by then im back in aus
and im not planning to bring my ps3 over although thats a tempting preposition

got a call from one of the agencies i sent resumes to
maybe something will work out

this song sounds like sugar and spice
though i have no clue what it is about other than being a diva?

on one hand im wishing that i would manage to land a part time job
been sending out emails and resumes for some short term jobs
only one of them got reply
even then no followup

on the other hand if did get the job
i would be wondering if i would be better off just lazing around

as they say the grass is always greener on the other side

been struggling against weight gain
periodic excercise wont do much good when youre spamming sugary drinks
like ice lemon tea, bubbletea
i dont like drinking plain water although i force myself to drink it when possible

holidays is double edged sword
free time is good
too much free time makes you bored

this phrase intrigues me
when you want something so badly, you dont get it
when you least expect it, it hits you in the straight in the face

need to blow off some steam
playing games isnt helping especially when you keep losing
time to GTA
thats what i like about the game
can unleash all your frustrations by going on a rampage virtually

i want to play more tennis, lose more weight
but i keep eating chocolate, drink bubbletea
the body is willing, the mind is weak

growing misunderstanding between people
losing direction in studies

realizing that its very difficult to maintain close friendships in uni

just got back from europe yesterday in the wee hours of the morning
no more snow
no more cold weather
no more breath taking scenery
no more people dressed up nicely
no more french/German/Italian speaking programs on tv

Swiss confederation
really a far cry from Singapore
different cultures totally

the Europeans and the Asians really have different approaches to life
here in Asia in particular the 4 Asian tigers
HK, TW, KR, SG
its all about chasing the money
make big bucks
more material things
cars, condo, credit cards, cash, career
in SG context
live to work
no time to relax

in Europe its less work
more on enjoying yourself
the unions have more power to protect the workers rights
though i must admit
strikes are problematic
experienced some traffic jams in Paris due to taxi drivers strike

the cold is double sided on one hand you dont sweat
on the other hand your skin becomes very dry

it got me thinking
do i really want to spend all my life in sg
should i look to settle down in other places after i graduate
can i integrate into a new country
honestly speaking
i find myself lost
i feel that i belong neither to SG nor to Australia
even though i grew up in SG
it doesnt feel the same anymore
it feels more like a foreign place to me increasingly over the past few years
foreigners have entered enmass
the mrt is overcrowded
so are the buses
so are the roads
so are the streets
sg lacks a soul
staved of freedom of expression
the high cost of living coupled with stagnating wages
means people have to work harder
the lack of minimum wage doesnt help things either
so does the wide spread of cheaper foreign labor which depresses wages of lower tier jobs

and with the ruling party so firmly entrenched
economic policies that sacrifice the welfare of the citizens
growth at all cost model

on the way back home on the plane
watched this japanese movie about a japanese diplomat investigating the disappearance of a japanese girl
this song kept recurring throughout
very beautiful song

on a lighter note
just had a gathering with some of my army mates
ate steamboat near bugis junction
always check out the food before you eat it
we ate at a place that caters to AT and ATB
and were surrounded by AT and ATB
you feel exactly back in PRC
the food doesnt suit SG taste buds

nice company but not so nice food

Thursday met up with a friend from uni for lunch
after that walked around town for a while before heading to swensens for desert.......
I Hope i get an answer soon
i said something which i have only said once in my entire life so far to her

thursday night
had gathering with jc classmates ( some of them)
at a joint called burger shack at kings plaza
the food was pretty good
its interesting to see that everyone has different viewpoints to things in life
as time goes by
5 plus years ago in jc things were so much different
time really changes the way you look at things

Currently in Great Britain now
in the hotel lobby local time here is 935pm which means its 535 am in sg
end of 2nd day in Britain
arrived here yesterday night around 630pm GMT time
totally jet lagged
long journey from airport back to hotel one and half hours
immediately went to sleep after washing up

today went on half day tour to the city
saw the london brigde, Big ben
Change of the guard parade at buckingham palace
went past trafalgar square too
the city is organised pretty haphazardly
roads and streets go in all directions

had lunch at chinatown area
and boy London feels crowded alright
the streets are narrow
the shops are pretty small
you have to keep squeezing to move around
the traffic is pretty insane too
the london metro known locally as the tube
is extremely CRAMP
and extremely crowded
makes me appreciate SG mrt system more

in the afternoon went to this gigantic building called herrods
which itself is a gigantic shopping mall full of boutiques and other stores
and it was a sea of people inside
really have to squeeze back and forth
its like navigating yourway through the pc fair back in sg
thats how crowded it is

after that back to picadilly circus area to check out the surroundings
the rainy weather made things more difficult

i am rather dissapointed with them

the most dissapointing was for management accounting
i thought i would do decently for it
in the end it was my worst subject
for the first time in my uni life
got a pass ,missed credit by ONE MARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it wasnt as bad as i thought
so yeah real bummer was MA

the late 90's radio waves were filled with these songs

the techno craze around this time when i was still in primary school

have to adjust to sg weather in particular
my nose is giving me problems
intermittent days will suffer from flowing mucus

met up with Joel for a few times over this time period
been playing some pool and billards
and i must say billards is much more difficult to play
needs more accurancy and dexterity
traits that i do not have entrenched in my clumsy style of play
makes for a good laugh though from spectators point of view

been eating out a quite a lot
good food never fails to lift your mood

met up with the hall guys twice
first trip to terence house, ps3 fest
street fighter 4 is fun to play but needs a lot of practice to pull off the moves
sometimes you can pull it off, sometimes you cant

one week study break is here

all i can say is
studying the past few days is like accumulating factors of production suffers from diminishing returns
there has been zero increase in productivity

if i could do minimal work and still remember everything i read

nice place with loads of fish
too bad couldnt see dolphins there
the sea turtles are huge

thursday chef han and chef pang cooked up some chicken rice
and laska

and the food was good
stomachs filled with plenty to keep for supper

friday sent off my mum who came over to visit for the break

saturday went to lancelin with bruce, his other half, amanda, jk, and myself
supposed to go sandboarding but the weather wasnt so kind
still managed to do some sightseeing
the sand dunes look huge
and there was a gigantic tour bus with monster truck size wheels
stopped by hillarys harbour for lunch
had some fish and chips while watching the seagulls camping outside waiting to swop down on your food

just like that its back to normal study week

IT STUDY BREAK AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!

last week was horrendous, with a Capital H for HORRENDOUS 3 mid semesters in 3 consecutive days
first one on tuesday was management accounting, passable but lost out around 20 marks already
fine thats okay with me compared to what comes up next

intl trade on wednesday
this one is passable too
might be able to get a credit for it
only grouch is got confused by relative price, relative wage, real wage
and the "questions" posed taken straight from the lecture notes
like who were the luddites
some questions downright hilarious

okiez the killer was intro to finance on thursday nite
totally not going to do well
all i can hope for is to pass the paper

friday had to hand up macro assignment
rushed through it the nite before

SAturday was the day i will remember for a long long time to go
went to the small town of York about 100 km plus away from Perth
on the way there had a close call but luckily everything turned out fine
together with Terence, Daniel and Kenneth
leaped out of the plane about 14000 feet
my heart had the sinking feeling for that split second went you first exit the plane
screamed my lungs out most of the way down
the view was fantastic
could see for miles and miles away
really grateful to the tandem master and the cameraman for trying to calm us on the way up
the money spent for this trip was definitely worth every dollar
the weather was good too
sunny with passing showers, luck was on our side when it was our turn
for the clouds witheld their load so there was no rain

on the way back to perth stopped by Mundaring well known for its pizza
mmm delicious pizza
and so our one day adventure ended around 7 plus when we finally got back to the hall

now its slacking time
from mid week onwards time to do work but for now

been eating a lot and losing the battle against flab

even if it means driving to some parts of school even though its only 1 plus km

good food

in the end when this fail
your blood boils and you try even harder griting your teeth

and then when all else fails
BAM you slam the book against the desk and just call it a day
the psp on the table looks so tempting to throw against the wall

knowing that destroying your entertainment machine wont do you much got

There is nothing interesting to say
my life is freaking boring
i would be lying through my teeth if i said my life was happening

anyway friday celebrated one of my hallmates birthdays
had korean food which tasted heavenly compared to the hall's food

after that got my mandatory weekly dosage of bubbletea
even as i type this im craving for one

i cant be bothered to do my tutorials yet
sometime next week will get done to it

for the first time in bout 2-3 months got back to playing tennis
still as noob as ever
hope to play my often and try to improve

im still longing for a set of wheels
despite my parents objections
just that i havent taken the plunge yet
doing so will seriously drain my savings
and add financial liability to whatever limited funds remaining

rushed to taka down there but due to some screw up
appointment was changed to monday

sunday took the car on the highways trying to find east coast park
ended up taking the long way there
in the end managed to find space to park
it was crowded being a sunday
decided to rent a bicylce
then cycled up and down enjoying the view

on the way back home car ran seriously low on fuel
was dreading the scenario where the car would stop halfway on the road due to lack of fuel

and now its wednesday already

yesterday met up with e house set pple for lunch at fish and cole at bugis
its been ages since i ate at a fish and cole place
the fish and chips was indeed good
brilliant
so was the desert place that yongsheng introduced
but i had stomach trouble later on
could it be due to the honeydew sago.......

been trying to convince my dad to let me buy a resonably cheap second hand car in oz
no luck with that
now its a question of doing what i really want
and doing what my folks want
to listen or to just ignore and do what i long for

the weekend has passed
and it was a rather hectic one
friday nite had a class gathering
with my old jc classmates
everyones going seperate paths now
some of the them entering the next phase of life
the girls graduating from uni soon, or already graduated and in the workforce now

after dinner went to island cremery for some desert
but i felt too stuffed to eat any of the delicious ice cream

sat morning woke up early to send my parents and my sis off at the airport
long ride on the mrt back
was playing my psp and as usual the batt died halfway

my sis is commencing uni studies in a bout weeks plus time
now i m really home alone lolz

sat afternoon attended some financial seminar
was asked to attend by one of my friends whose interning there
insightful seminar got some insights about financial planning
there was this segment were some financial ratios were brought up
and some of them looked familiar....... debt ratio, liquidity ratio.......
but i remember none of them though i remember doing this when studying fa just last year
bah everything about fa has flown away from my head
and i must say the presentations the interns gave was fantastic.......
if this was assessed by uni professors, they would score well

sat nite met up with my old buddy joel for dinner
we tried eating at the restauarant at cathay first floor
served western food
i cant remember the name of the restaurant at this point
not too bad though price is on the higher side
bumped into paul my old sji classmate
watched ice age 3
had many good laughs
my gripe is as with most animated flicks, its too short
on the bus ride back bumped into paul again lolz

sunday morning overslept till 1205 pm
had to rush for driving revision which starts at 1220pm
was late for bout 10 plus minutes
this is the last revision

my second attempt at driving test is less than 48 hours away

now i discovered a couple of hours ago that the i have outstanding debt to the uni
meaning havent paid school fees for first sem 09
therefore i cant view my exam results
need to sort this out asap

i suspect the tt transfer went to the wrong bank
therefore the funds have been transferred but not recognised by the uni

failure to pay fees for a prolonged period could result in cancellation of student visa
its a heck of a pain in the butt just to get the student visa
should that go kaput
there will be a lot of complication to put it midly

first thing first
the weather is getting on my nerves
too used to the cold wind blowing in my face

i just watched star trek yesterday
great movie i must say
even though im not a big fan of star trek
this movie is better thatn previous few star trek films ive seen

it makes me wonder about the concept of time travel
going back to the past and altering past events
the possibilites are fascinating and have been explored in fiction cue

what if you could alter the past to suit the future that you want
imagine you go back and alter your PSLE, O level, A level
or i could be somewhere else in the world
who knows
but the say going back in time could prove to be opening pandoras box
like if you prevent some tragedies from happening

Its feeling cold and its only 5 pm in the evening
and its been a long week
havent had a single day where i can just slack away doing nothing
every single day there has to be some work done
its draining me fast

a special day honouring soldiers who fought during the first world war and second world war
today is a public holiday in lieu of anzac day

a lot has happened

dinner at freemantle last friday nite with xian han, alex and terence
fish and chips rock
too many pple at freo
grabbed bubbletea later on once again

sat afternoon had dimsum with ethel, ginny, hy, nick tan, nick tian, charles
nice food yum yum
i realise i dont eat a lot when eating dim sum...........
resisted temptation to buy bubbletea

sunday just spent trying to squeeze some work before roadtrip

monday to wednesday was roadtrip
to margaret region
stayed at a small town augusta
at the southern west tip of aust

visited places like caves, wineries, beaches, lighthouse
the natural scenery really blows you off your feet
the weather was also chilly
at the beach you felt cold due to the gusts of wind blowing in from the oceans
ate a lot as well
i realised that the further you go away from metro perth
the more laidback you feel
you feel detached from city life
and you stop to gave at the stars at night
surounded by the natural scenery

only saw a few kangooroos, many cows along the way
at cape leuwin lighthouse
managed to catch a glimpse of dolphins in the distant
my camera couldnt capture them
but it was nice to see the pod of dolphins breaking the waves

during the break got to know more about my friends travelling with me
even though we were not all from the hall, a mixture of outsiders plus hallmates
we got along just fine and had agood time
and it makes me more determined to pass my driving licence.....
im attemptin to retake in june when i get back to sg once again

the feeling of defeat still lingers in my mind

thursday was my 22nd bday
had a suprise on wednesday nite
ethel, ginny and gang bought a cake for me and jonathan who shared the same bday as me
thanks for the wishes
and the gift
really apprecaite it....
this is my first bday away from sg

spent thursday lazing around, squeezing in some work
cos i was still zonked out from the trip
at nite went to have dinner at northbridge with charles and kevin
hogs breath cafe is nice
but it takes so darn long to get food served
once again got my share of bubbletea

friday and sat
spent just fighting procastination and doing work

cos the mid sems are just in afew days time
and im quite sick of mugging even thought its only been afew days > _ <
jap is the one draining me a lot
even though i have the interest to learn it
whether i have sufficient ability to learn is is another question

6 weeks of school have passed
one more week and it will be the mid sem break
i believe everyone needs this break badly...
pressure is building up and there is a need to get away from the books
and the whole studying thing

its a challenge everyday...
for the past few weeks i have been trying to contain my frustrations
which is threatening to burst out of my shell
the only thing that keeps it in check
are the people around me
a simple smile can make so much of a difference

yet somethings are still complicated

havent been excercising that much
and im still eating a lot of snacks
it doesnt help that the weather is changing
i hate the large temp diff
like for instance its bout 11 degress celcius now
in the afternoon it jumps up to 29 degrees celcius

theres always a side that you may or dont know about
even among close friends

its the end of one month of the second semester of school for me.
everyday brings new thoughts to my head
ive been trying to interact more with the new first yrs
hasnt been easy
but im trying
been trying to expand human interaction with others
rather than just staying in the same old circle of friends
but then
you realise once you leave secondary school
things dont just seem the same anymore
everyone begins to go their seperate paths
life becomes more complicated
even before you step into the working world

happier stuff the over the past 2 weeks
include watching circue de solei on friday the 13th
fantastic show well worth the price
and the tickets hurt the wallet

supposed to go for bbq last sat afternoon but ended up eating in the city with some of the new year 1's

just yesterday went for dimsum

one of the few stuff that cheers me up is dim sum

3 weeks of school have passed

last sat headed to the beach with some friends
original plan was to head to cottlesloe beach
somehow we ended up north of cottlesloe
and stumbled upon swanbourne beach
its clothing optional beach
meaning pple tanning and lazing around in the buff
i couldnt take pictures of the area for obvious reasons
but i must say the beach here rocks
not a cloud in the sky
clear waters
just the sun the sand the sea

just lazed around and walked up and down the beach
tried to swim in the water but the waves keep sweeping you away so yeah
just dipped around in the pool

later we headed south and took a long walk
and finally arrived at cottlesloe and the crowds
savioured gelato ice cream
hot sunday plus ice cream is a killer combo

thanks to the sunscreen i didnt get any burns
except on my feet -_-" least expected place to get burns

other than that sunday night went to meet my dad and his associates for dinner
theyre in town for some golf and recreation
ate a new restaurant in northbridge

really very stuffed
the food was good
the bill was even higher
the exact price i dont know

japanese is still a struggle
stats is giving me problems
monetary economics is the biggest headache now

my fitness is clearly deterioating

i really think i am not cut out for overseas study
staying in sg would have been easier for me

socially things arent going so well

about life in sg
and the govt governing it......

and the policies they make
some of them
just plain wrong

the elderly shouldnt be made to work for the sake of supporting themselves...
there should be at least some form of pension
other than CPF
which in the first place is taken from the workers themselves
i think the govt is capable of increasing the funds needed to sustain the ageing population
but is unwilling to do so

the other thing is the ever increasing cost of living
wages are stagnating and are not keeping pace

just returned from hk a few days ago
had way too much food
and stomach is paying the price

fallout from sub prime crisis and subsequent crash in stock markets plus investor confidence
recssion looming for sg and many other countries
pay cuts and retrenchment coming??

by the time i graduate and enter the workforce will things stabilise, i sure hope so

my bank interest earned got cut to 6% from 6.25 % haha
theory really applied to practice

got back mid sem results
just passed fa, relatively okay for econs hist, macro econs and basic maths scored better
today just cleared a major hurdle
getting the fa group assignment out of the way
AT LAST

complicated to say the least
so much financial stuff
have to think about econs stuff to say

last friday went to perth royal show
a blast i must say
fireworks were spectacular and worth the wait
so was the stunt driving and the horse riding shows
bought some goody bags of food and chocolate

i got trouble trying to upload the pictures onto facebook
got to do it manually ....

earlier today made a trip to busseltown with terence, yongshen and charmaine
thanks to yongshen and charmaine for driving the long distance to and fro
500 km plus in one day
5 hours plus on the road
2 hours at the destination
and the roads are really dark at night
no street lighting and the opposing car lights blind you
the jetty was nice to see , quite far out from land 1.7 km out to sea, very windy as well
a lot of people fishing at the spot

at night had a nice dinner where we stuffed ourselves
and i just ripped myself off again
7 dollars just 2 pieces of eel...... ugh
the food was good though

so now theres temporary respite
final year exam timetable is out already

spent time slacking around

sat after fa went to have lunch with xianhan and laigono
ate at a place called taka in the city
affordable food but the portion is rather small

my old rashes on my legs and arms were caused by the bathing lotion i was using

so now i know to stay away from honey and milk mixture

cos im getting my butt kicked by 2 units im taking now
once called Acct 1101 sounds familiar
yeah thats cause bout one year and 4 plus months ago
poor dudes in jurong camp including urstruly
had to learn acct which causes physical pain like aches
this one financial accounting causes ur brain to ache
well at least for me
such a pain in the netheregions

another one is economic history unit
got to do readings and the points or information all overlap

well i joined this club called the jap society
haha basically trying to know more bout jap culture
through informal chit chat sessions with pple who speak japanese
urs truly doesnt know any japanese except for some words that keep recurring in japanese anime

and im suffering from winter rash
basically ur skin gets so dried up that its start itching
when u go from cold place to a warm place
all that itchiness just flares up
just like heat rash

so its bout a week since i arrived in Perth
slowly settling down into the dorms
the people here are rather friendly
the pace of life is slower
no need to rush here rush there
the weather is cold and chilly

but the shops close darn early
by6-7pm there are hardly any shops open
only the places that sell food and what not are still open

and since i dont drive
i have to rely on the public buses which is efficient i must say
just that the waiting times can be long

........... now i know how it feels like to leave your comfort zone
and start again somewhereelse bah
it feels ................. weird

aniways this week is still orientation week
so lessons havent started yet
starting next week
im trying to get a 4 day timetable so that leaves friday free for a longer weekend
and i dont have to wake uptoo early
bout 730 to 8am on somedays

i seriously have problems remembering peoples names
its embarrasing when u meet people and they know ur name but u cant reply them
quite a lot of sg pple around the hall
and a mix of nationalities from other countries

food here is more expensive from what i c
the cost of living is higher
so the payrate is higher too
part time employment i heard is bout 15-20 aud per hour
thats 3 times higher than back in sg

i hope to get to know more people well in the weeks to come.....
and i got to watch what i eat ..lolz
feel like eating more in the cold weather

there are some things that u wish u never knew
because knowlegde is power
but power corrupts
so having knowlegde corrupts ur views on things
so that means studying more isnt good for u

less than a month to go before leaving sg for studiess.....
so many things unknown
apprehension and uncertainty

weekend was good finally met up with friends for meals
watched the movie get smart on sat
hilarious and lame
good for laughs
challenges the stereotypes of intelligence agencies

talking with friends over lunch and dinner and a constant theme came out
competition from foreigners be it in the workforce or at unis
especially those from PRC
really posing a problem to locals
seems like in the past few years massive influx of foreigners into sg
it beomes a problem when they compete with locals for jobs and education
when they finish their bond here they can go back to their home country
what bout locals ? stuck here ?

cos there seems to be something pricking my tongue at the side

i been reading online forums/blogs rants bout sg education system
one thing i agree with is that sg is very unforgiving towards failure
streaming from p4 onwards ya da ya da psle, express,normal a, normal tech, ite
its like dont do well in exams and the whole world u know come crashing on ur heads
teachers, parents, societal pressure
what is the point of education?
to get a decent job that pays u decently that enables u to live a decent standard of living

problem is the decent job u want nowadays minimum requires a degree
and the barriers to entry to jobs is harder due to foreign competition
foreigners who can accept lower pay and work longer hours
why? cos when they return to their home countries they can live quite comfortably
for locals the ever increasing cost of living coupled with inflation means its getting harder just to get by

its worse for low wage earners seriously... in my opinion , foreign workers are depressing the wages in sg, couple with lack of minimum wage and trade unions who are controlled by the govt
the situation doesnt look good

only gripe is i heard its quite short less than 6 hours to finish

had a goodweekend meeting up with friends
ate at manhattan fish
first time eating there
and the food tastes great
watched indiana jones with joel
funny in a quirky way
and it shows why some things only happen in the movies

sunday had a nice meal with jeremy( havent seen ya in ages man)
and eat at the island cremery for the first time in my life
man i seriously miss out on a lot of good stuff

returned to work on monday
and i already forgot some of the things i picked up just weeks ago
my memory is so darned rusty

removed 2 of my wisdom tooth on tuesday afternoon
one of them just a normal extraction
the other one is the problematic one
sianz now my gums still hurt
yest was a horrendous experience bah never want to go throuh that again
seeing the dentist twist and yank ur teeth
using some instrument to cut ur gums
damn teeth had to be removed in diff sections cos it was too big and jammed by my gum tissues > _<
even though my gums were numb from anasthethic ( thank god for this)... i just felt unnerved

i realise that i lack the willpower to read books for long periods
concentration only lasts for a shortwhile
short attention span for reading
this is not good

so 15 days of being overseas is over in a flash
once again i will say it
time flies when ur enjoying urself

canada
weather fluctuates with day and night time differences of up to 15 degress
been eating a lot
so much that i gained 2 plus kgs
visited 3 cities in total
vancouver,montreal and quebec
took a day trip down to US for some shopping lolz

tasted maple syrup which is delicious
visited some of the casinos in canada
tried playing some slots
its the only one that lets u burn time and money slowly
playing card games wipes out ur cash fast
sightseeing in montreal and quebec
feels like ure in france instead of canada
so much french influence

vancouver on the other hand feels like hongcouver with a significant chinese population there
went shopping at the malls
eating at the diff restaurants
basically just relaxing and catching up with my relatives living there

stopped over in hk for the past 4 days to recover from jet lag before i came back
went shopping and eating again
day trip to macau
hehe tried my luck at slots again
at first win money
then stay there for a while and u start losing money again
bought an ipod nano in hk for bout 250plus sg dollars
also bought this book called the economic naturalist which is interesting to read
it explains why some things happen while applying economic concepts

now its back to reality

mostly routine

work as usual in the evenings
finally cleared advanced theory
driving currently at stage 3

met up with some of the platoon guys on labour day
caught the show ironman
this show is more comedic and less serious than other comic book films like batman begins
i luv the audi r8 that tony stark drives
hes a billionare alrite
got rolls royce phantom, private mansion, private jet
one thing other billionares dont have
a powered suit that lets u fly and take bullet hits

watching code geass r2 and finished watching first season of code geass
i like the plot a lot
alternate future where japan is a colony of some holy empire

applied for exit permit for aussie studies
but got one nagging problem
must i clear IPPT before i fly off???

from tml i'll be heading to canada and then hong kong for bout 2 weeks

and end up as a uni grad waiting to enter the working world

but the comedy and action make up for it

full legal age in sg

yest nite met up with some of my old armymates to catchup
had dinner at ps foodcourt
then went to starbucks to chit chat plus sip some mocha
havent seen some of them since i orded
looks like they are doing well
earning money that pays well
its funny just seeing them brings back all the memories in the army

i just found a part time job last week
know how it feels like to be on the receiving end of customers lolz
the good thing is its flexible timing so i can choose when to work

the past 2 weeks have flown by

so fast

everyday pasts by like an blink of an eye

ironic that during army days it didnt pass like this
esp outfield times

but looking back 22 months sure have gone by just like that
i didnt beleive it back then
some pple said army days were more carefree
no need to think about things like what to do
no need to bother bout finding work
paying for meals etc

aniway last week had a 4 day trip to hk with some of my platoonmates
pnr 2 2 5 5 lolz
had fun there lolz
never spent so much time outside
searching the street for food
trying to find places
getting lost a couple of times

visited victoria peak once again
forgot to bring jacket
big mistake
wind blowing plus wind chills made it BRzzzzzzzz

went to macau on the second day to satisfy gamblers desire
went to the venetian macau
nice place man
the casino is huge
spent a lot of time loitering there
tried playing some dice game
argh so fast lost all the money i bet on
crapz
no you know why gambling can be so addictive
its like erm one game over in like less than a min
4 games in like 5 mins?

70 plus sg dollars gone just like that

ocean park on the third day
nice place but was incredibly packed with visitors from china
tried the rides
i admit i hate coaster rides
dun like being scared out of my wits
esp the vertical drop.....

various nites we dropped by the street markets to find stuff
i tried with some success to bargain with the stallowners to help alvin, eugene and hongwei buy stuff
ended up getting scolded by storekeepers for being so nit picky
but ah suck it up , have to be thick skinned to get discounts

in all a nice exprience with them
first time travelling without parents on a holiday

now still on the hunt for jobs
sent out some emails with my simple resume which took so long just to type
cos im cluessless bout this kind of things
got close to finding one job
but in the end no luck again

thats something new to me
i never knew boardgames could be so mind boggling

showed 2 people how my house looks like
brought them to a nice place to eat
good food
good fun and laughter

v day has come and passed
nothing special for me
just silently envious of all those mushy couples
whom cupids arrow have struck

its tortorous trying to get 9 plus hours of continous sleep
cos my body like half awake from bout 7 or 8 am
but i refuse to get fully awake till 10plus am which is the normal time for me

looking back
the effects of 22 months are going to last for quite some time
especially the memories

i struggle to make use of time

if playing arcade games cost a fraction of the current amount now
i wouldnt mind spending a couple of hours on it daily
but doing that now would certainly mean blowing 20-30 dollars a day
now that i cannot sustain

playing WOW really seems like an attractive deal
after all u can play for hours on end
and only pay a subscription fee a month

i cant find my old red alert2 cd
i wanna play it again and then play yuris revenge

in some ways life under the army
makes things simple for you
you just obey orders without having to think much of what to do

now i have to break out of this thinking and get my brain juices working again

my uni application has been accepted yay!
course in economics
at least somethings confirmed

come july i'll be leaving for aussie
to start a new chapter of mylife

ive been through a phase of nearly 8 months plus of emoness back in 04
never want to go through that again

on a side note
dont recommend watching cloverfield
its like a pov movie
a lot shaky moments
can induce headaches
and the plot isnt good
no head nor tail....

Greetings and its the start of something new

a new year has arrived

new beginning

trip to hk was nice

met up with relatives
ate good food
stomach got a bit rounder
went sight seeing and photo taking
view of hk harbour and kowloon from victoria peak is awesome
only thing is the haze which obscures the view
also went to see big budha statue situated on lantau island
long ride just to get there
theres a new cable car system thats under trials
need a ticket to get on but with queues strecthing up to 3 hours
u would wait for another day
but i heard that the view is paranomic
360 view of lantau island

back in sg
had nice lunch with yaofeng
then caught the movie i am legend

imagaine not seeing any human beings ( alive) for 3 years
thats something i cant imagine doing
not seeing any human being for just one week makes me feel disturbed....
perhaps the theme of this film is becareful when messing with diseases

met up with some of the wow people plus alvin to catch avp2 on new years eve
bk lunch not bad man
mushroom swiss burger nice
well not really into such shows
i dont have a liking for shows which revolve around aliens
a bit gruesome ............ violence

met up with my good buddy at nite for late dinner
then went to esplanade area to watch fireworks
not a good idea actually
had to squeeze and jostle with the huge crowds
couldnt even get near the esplanade
stuck at the fullerton hotel which was barricaded to prevent people from getting to close to the guests at the hotel i gather
couldnt even go in to use the washroom >_<

at midnight fireworks came
looks alot like ndp that time
but nevertheless nice
fireworks lasted bout ten mins
walked all the way to dhoby ghaut area to wait for bus or so i thought
another mistake after 20 plus minutes....no bus
by this time its bout 120am
so hopped onto a cab home....

now in just a few hours its back to camp...
ugh getting too comfy with civillian life already
purposely got my hair cut
to stop those pesky superiors from pestering u to cut ur hair
just to CONFORM to rules
